The Archetypes are a composite medicine wheel based on the unity of Native American, Mongolian, Korean, and Latin American shamanism. In these animal forms, they celebrate various phases on the journey of life!
Studying Native American, Mongolian, Korean, and Latin American shamanism for over 13 years, I studied directions, colors, seasons, and animals to create an universal composite medicine wheel.
Each painting was lovingly researched with a corresponding color palette. Like the icon artists of Russia, it took 2 years+ of contemplative painting to complete each one. Using acrylic and oil with various animal hair brushes such as horse and sable plus different knives, painting each picture was at least a half of year journey in itself in picking out colors, animal forms, and watching it come to life from a white blank canvas!
The Fire Dancer was completed right before beloved Pope John Paul II’s death. Two years on anniversary of his death, on the news astonishing pictures surfaced that resembled this painting.
In my own office I hang a full set to hold space in the directions for clients and myself. Work with the energies of each direction, animal, and color to fully feel the effects of these powerful spirits. After in person sessions before the pandemic, I sent clients a custom note card with a handwritten message about their session. It’s a beautiful way to work!
