PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Originally the Mayor’s Commission on Asian American Affairs (MCAAA), each Mayor’s administration establishes and appoints up to 25 community leaders to inform the Administration of important community issues and influence local government policy.
Under Mayor Nutter and Kenney, Judi and her team designed the MCAAA website, social media accounts, organized events, facilitated strategic planning sessions, and contributed to policies for education, economic development, health, and public safety as a consultant to employee.
As Director of Multicultural Affairs, Office of Immigrant Affairs at the City of Philadelphia, Judi was the staff liaison for the Mayor’s Commission on African and Caribbean Immigrant Affairs (MCACIA), Mayor’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (MCAPAA), and PHL Honors Diversity, flag and cultural programming, including speeches, songs, dance, and food, for over 40 areas and countries. Judi and her team created the Philadelphia “Welcoming” Awards for Welcoming Week, which is an annual celebration of diversity, equity and inclusion of 600+ events around the country and world.
Judi has worked closely with me to organize community events for the Philadelphian Asian American community, local policy issues, and the development of our website. Through her persistence, positive attitude, and connections Judi was able to establish a website for the Asian American community working through the city bureaucracy.
